Cheating

Players who are banned by the default service provider, the developer (also known as a “game ban”) and/or a third-party monitoring tool (such as PunkBuster/VAC) are not permitted to play in the 1337LAN unless the ban is more than three years old or for a game which the 1337LAN has not held competitions for. You may appeal this ban by contacting the admin. Teams who field banned players in their team line-up will face disqualification from the event.

Third-party software (which may/may not be integrated into the game code) which bypasses the natural competitive mechanisms of the game shall be handled as cheating.

If a player is suspended for cheating during the event, the team who fielded the player shall receive a disqualification and any prior games shall be overturned in the opponents favour.

The 1337LAN does NOT operate an anti-cheat service. Should you suspect a player of cheating please report it the one of the admins and allow for time to review the evidence.

Game specific rules

Dota 2

Game rules

  • Game Mode: Captains Mode
  • Server: Local
  • Game Type: Tournament (you may not use any other version!)
  • Fill Empty Slots With Bots: No
  • Enable Cheats: No
  • Subs: Allowed as long as they are not playing for another team at the event.

Side Selection

  • A coin toss will be held in the match lobby before the match begins.
  • To begin the Side Selection process, the team leaders must elect which of them call for the heads or tails side of the coin. If neither team leader can come to an agreement, the team with the highest seed will be given the choice. Should neither team have a higher seed, please contact a 1337LAN admin to resolve the coin toss.
  • The team leader who is not calling heads or tails will then toss the coin (using the /flip command in lobby chat) and the winning team of the coin toss will have the choice to pick which side of the map they want to start on (Dire or Radiant) OR to decide which team will be picking first in the banning phase.
  • This process will be repeated for subsequent matches.
  • If a team wishes to play either Dire or Radiant for both games they must come to a mutual agreement between themselves. This is not obligatory and teams can refuse to do so. We will leave this completely in the hands of the teams. Mutual agreements must be confirmed by both captains if no mutual agreement is declared the standard side selection process must be used. Do not bother us with any disputes on this matter as they will be ignored.

Pauses and connection issues

  • Time-outs/pauses
    • Teams will be allowed one time-out, or pause per match. This is to be used in emergencies only (such as a hardware issue).
    • Player needs to announce a pause at least five seconds in advance stating a reasonable justification (except for disconnects).
    • The duration of this pause/time-out is five minutes only, unless otherwise stated by an admin, and allows enough time for the player to rejoin the server. This may be overwritten should both teams agree to it (no dispute may be lodged regarding pausing once both teams have agreed to extend the pause).  It is suggested that you take a screenshot of the team agreeing to pause longer than 5min.
    • Teams who fake an emergency in order to obtain a time-out will forfeit the match.
  • 4.2. Connection issues
    • Any team or player who intentionally disconnects from a game before the game is over will forfeit the map currently being played.
    • If a player disconnects from the server after the game has begun, the game must be paused by the clan captain whilst the player is allowed to rejoin.
    • If the match has been going for less than five minutes and a player disconnects and is unable to rejoin, then the game should be restarted.
    • In the event of a remake, players must play the same heroes, buy the same initial items, pick the same spells, and go to the same lanes as they did in the prior game. Players may change lanes once the creeps in their initial lanes meet. If a team employed a strategy (such as a level 1 Roshan) that is heavily dependent on the surprise factor of the draft in the opening minutes of the game, and a player legitimately dropped during this stage; an admin may allow a re-draft and re-match (of that individual game).

Victory conditions

A game is finished when:

  • An Ancient Fortress is destroyed.
  • A team forfeits.
  • The majority of a team leaves on purpose.
  • An admin decides the match is over.

Cheats, bug exploits and forbidden scripts

  • 1337LAN reserves the right to investigate incidents in which teams have been accused of exploiting a bug which is considered to be an unintended mechanic. The 1337LAN can issue any form of punishment it sees fit for the situation at hand.
  • Please contact a 1337LAN admin for clarification before using a suspected exploit or bug during your match.
  • Cheating is not permitted in any way, shape or form.
  • No scripts of any sort are allowed.
  • No bind scripts (bind with more than one function) are allowed.
  • No software, hardware or drivers may be used to run a script or automate any function or macro.
  • No third party applications or external devices may be used whilst playing.
  • No third party scripts/programmes which interact directly or indirectly with the game are permitted. This includes AutoHotkey, cheat applications and any player-created applications.

Additional lobby members

Additional lobby members are not allowed to be used in 1337LAN matches. Extra members are not allowed to join the game lobby. The only people that are allowed to join the lobby are:

  • The five players from Team A
  • The five players from Team B
  • Official casters/streamers/admins

Fair play rule

The players are expected to play by their full capacity at all times. Losing on purpose won’t be tolerated and will result in a disqualification. This is up to the head admin to decide. This is a professional tournament and all players are expected to act like such.

Recordings & screenshots

  • Team captains are required to download the replay of all their matches.
  • Screenshots of both teams line-ups and the scores must be taken. (it is recommended that everyone on the team take these screenshots).
  • 1337LAN will perform random spot checks, randomly asking teams for their replays and screenshots.

Casting/streams/admins

  • Only 1337LAN official administrators and streamers may join the game as broadcasters or spectators. Streamers may bring a co-caster to cast with them.
  • If an official caster requests a password for a lobby, neither team may refuse to give it to them. Some casts might request an interview with players before or after the game, players are well within their rights to refuse to do an interview if they wish.
  • Should you have any queries regarding whether a person is an official caster please contact the 1337LAN admin.

CS: GO

Map elimination

  • Teams must join a server and perform a knife round on the map de_dust2. The winning team of the knife round will have the choice to veto the first map or chose sides on the first map. If the knife winner selects to veto the first map, they become team A in the example below.
  • Example of a Map Veto where Team A won the knife round and elected to veto the first map:
    • Team A Removes a map
    • Team B Removes a map
    • Team A Picks the first map
    • Team B Picks the second map
    • Team A Removes a map
    • Team B Removes a map
    • The remaining map is played third
  • Once the first map has been played the teams must perform another knife round on each subsequent map to determine which side to start as.
  • Subs are allowed as long as they are not playing for another team at the event.

Time-outs and connection Issues

  • 4.1 – Time-outs
    • If a player is faced with a problem that is preventing him/her from continuing to play, he/she is allowed to use the pause function.
    • The player must announce the reason for the pause before or directly after he/she has paused the match. If no reason is given, the opposing Team may un-pause the game and continue playing.
    • Pause may only be used at the start of a round during freeze time. Before a game is un-paused, the opposing team must be notified and given time to prepare.
    • The duration of this pause/time-out is five minutes only and allows enough time for the player to re-join the server.
    • Teams are only allowed one pause/time-out per game.
  • 4.2 – Connection Issues
    • Any team or player who intentionally disconnects from a game before the game is over will forfeit the map currently being played and be penalized accordingly.
    • 4.2.2 – Player disconnections
      • If a player drops before the first kill in the first round of a half, then the half will be restarted.
      • If a player disconnects from the server after the first kill in the first round of the half, the game must continue until the round is complete. The clan captain must then pause the match during the freeze time in round 2 whilst the player is allowed to rejoin.
      • The player will have exactly 5 minutes to rejoin the server. If the player has not rejoined within five minutes, the match will continue without him. Each team is allowed one pause per match to be used if a player times out or disconnects unintentionally.
    • 4.2.3 – Server crashes
      • If a match is interrupted by a server crash within the first three rounds of play, then the match should be restarted.
      • If a match is interrupted after the first three rounds of play the match should be continued from where it left off.
        • A) If a valid backup is available it will be used and the rounds will continue as is.
        • B) If a valid backup is not available the match should continue where it left off.
      • In the event of a server crash, players must reconnect within 10 minutes of the server restarting. Only the remaining rounds need to be completed. (i.e. you continue as you were the round before the server dropped).

    • mat_hdr_enabled
  • The following start parameters are forbidden:
    • +mat_hdr_enabled 0/1

  • A game is won once one Team has 16 of the possible 30 rounds. Draws are not possible and overtime must be played if Teams end the map tied (15-15).

  • 1337Lan reserves the right to overturn three rounds if a team is found to have made use of an unfair map or game mechanic (such as an exploit) to prevent their opponents from defusing the bomb. A good example would be planting the bomb in the pond on Inferno in Counter-Strike Source, where a bug prevented it from being defused.

  • Disputes raised in this regard will be ignored.

New positions

If any player or team wants to use a new position which is unknown to anyone else or just known to a small part of the community, it’s strongly recommended to contact tournament officials to check if that position is allowed before using it in any official match. Players and teams have to consider that it takes time to check new positions and therefore they have to contact tournament officials in a reasonable timeframe before an official match.

Overtime

  • In the event of a tie, overtime will be used. Overtime consists of two, three round halves (best of 6 rounds). The starting cash is $10000. If the score is still tied after the first overtime, an additional overtime will be played. This process will be repeated until one team wins.

Fair play rule

  • The players are expected to play by their full capacity at all times. Losing on purpose won’t be tolerated and will result in a disqualification. This is up to the Head Admin to decide. This is a professional tournament and all players are expected to act like such.
